For over 70 years, Dilworth Little League oldest neighborhood. At Whittington Field and the lower fields at Freedom Park, Dilworth has provided baseball and softball opportunities to countless children and families throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Most people think that the “boys of summer” give way to middle school and high school programs, but the games at Dilworth Little League do not stop at the age of 12. The Juniors and Seniors divisions are affiliated with Little League up through 16 years old, while 17- and 18-year-olds play in the Babe Ruth League, allowing kids a place to play from tee ball into college.
The older divisions, known as “The Big Leagues,” have recently been having a lot of success representing Dilworth at the District 3 level, the North Carolina State Tournaments, and into the Southeast Regionals. The majority of this success can be traced back to the efforts of born-and- raised Charlottean and longtime Dilworth resident, Jay Brietz.
